It’s Summer!

I love the longer daylight hours, being able to eat and live outside. The flowers are blooming - at least the ones I have managed to keep alive :) life is sweet! It’s been a busy June at The Dessert Tray with graduations, weddings and showers, such happy times. I am thrilled to be as busy as the bees. I have exciting news, but you’ll have to check back in a few weeks to see what’s cookin’!

It’s Spring!

Winter is over and I for one am glad. I love the rain, but come on, we live in San Diego for a reason, and our lives revolve around being outdoors. I had planned to post some pictures of all the yummy treats I have been working on, but for some reason - most likely my complete lack of computer intelligence :) - I cannot seem to find them. So I will just tell you….

I have never been a huge fan of scones. I personally always found them much too dry. But, last summer we went to Hawaii (Maui and Kauai), and had the most moist, delicious scone ever, sold and made by a woman at a roadside farm stand. She would not share her recipe. I couldn’t be upset, as she clearly had a corner on the market as far as scones go. So, I have been trying to replicate that taste ever since. I finally discovered her “secret ingredient” and have been making all kinds of different flavors of scones. My personal favorites so far have been a dried Cherry/chocolate chip and a toasted almond. Oh the possibilities are endless…….

I also, have a picture of my sweet revenge cupcake. I will find it somewhere :)

Now on to cake pops. Have you heard of them? No? Well, they are the new big craze. And I mean it. It’s everything you want in one little pop. It’s cake and frosting, rolled together into a ball, covered in chocolate candy and put on a stick, so it’s even easy to eat. How fantastic is that?

I promise, I will find my pictures. They are in this computer. Somewhere. Not over a rainbow I hope…..

Sweet Revenge

How good does THAT sound? Well, since dessert is pretty much on my mind at all times, I have just named my new cupcake!

A very good customer asked me today if I could try to replicate a favorite restaurant dessert of hers. She described, and I envisioned.

Stay tuned, I will start creating this one early next week for tastings!

Happy Valentine’s Day from The Dessert Tray!

If you missed out on this month’s special, don’t worry, there will be another one next month!
